The Department of Nanoscience is housed within the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN), a partnership between UNCG and North Carolina A&T University. A PhD in Nanoscience and a Professional Master’s in Nanoscience were the first JSNN programs established when the UNC Board of Governors approved the degree programs in January 2010. Daniel J. C. Herr was named the department’s founding chair in 2011.
