James G. Ryan

On July 14, 2008, James G. Ryan began work as the founding dean of the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN), a partnership between UNCG and North Carolina A&T University. Prior to his arrival at JSNN, Ryan served as Associate Vice President of Technology and Professor of Nanoscience in the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) of the University at Albany.

Ryan earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1977, a master’s degree in chemistry in 1978, a master’s degree in biomedical engineering in 1980 and a doctorate in chemistry in 1988, all from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
