Marie Darr Scott

Marie Darr Scott graduated from UNCG in 1970 and during her time as a student helped organized the Black Power Forum of 1967, found the Neo-Black Society in 1968, and establish the first black history class taught at UNCG. After graduating from UNCG with a history degree, Scott spent the next 18 years as a labor activist and organizer for the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union, including organizing workers at Cone Mills in Greensboro. She was a long time active member in UNCG’s Black Alumni Council. Scott passed away in 2017.
