Karen Wixson

Since 2013, Karen Wixson has been the William E. Moran Distinguished Professor in Reading and Literacy at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). She received her B.S. in Behavioral Disabilities from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in 1972, an M.S.Ed. in Learning Disorders from State University of New York-Binghamton in 1975, and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Reading Education from Syracuse University in 1978 and 1980, respectively. From 1980 until coming to UNCG in 2011, Wixson was at the University of Michigan, where she was a professor in the School of Education there, and Dean of the School of Education from 1998 to 2005. Wixson served as the Dean of the School of Education at UNCG from 2011-2015.
