Harriet Elliot Social Sciences Forum/ Lecture Series

Harriet Wiseman Elliott taught political science at the State Normal and Industrial College (later known at UNCG) from 1913 until her appointment to the Dean of Women in 1935. Elliott was a pioneer for women’s rights and suffrage. Following her death in 1947, the college established the Harriet Elliott Social Science Forum in her memory. The Social Science Forum has evolved over the years into the Harriet Elliott Lecture Series which is currently is a two-day event with speakers discussing a variety of topics for faculty and students.
