Thomas Bailey

Thomas Bailey was an attorney, banker, furniture executive, and philanthropist, who served on the State Normal and Industrial College’s Board of Directors from 1902 to 1916. His daughters, Evelyn and Sarah, died in the typhoid epidemic of 1899 that swept the campus. In their memory, he established a scholarship and furnished a room in the old Students Building, which was used for meditation. The Bailey Residence Hall is named in his honor.
