Born in 1947, Linda P. Brady earned degrees in political science from Douglass College, the women’s division of Rutgers University (B.A., 1969), Rutgers University (M.A., 1970), and Ohio State University (Ph.D., 1974).  After positions with the U.S. State Department and leadership roles at Georgia Tech, Oregon, and North Carolina State, Brady was named Chancellor of UNCG in 2008.

During her time as Chancellor, UNCG developed a number of cooperative ventures, including a Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering with North Carolina A&T and plans for a downtown Union Square Campus that would bring together many local colleges, nonprofits, and Cone Health. Brady also oversaw expansion of the campus across Lee Street, with construction of Spartan Village and a new student recreation center. In October 2014, she announced her resignation from the position of Chancellor, effective July 2015.
